Michael J Shannon Jr
Thank you for stopping by. As you can see, I am Michael Shannon. I am originally from Denton, Texas. I have lived in 5 different states, but Ohio is where I call home. I met my wife, Victoria, at a teen church camp in Tipp City, Ohio in 2002. We married in Orlando, Florida on April 20th, 2013. Victoria was my best friend for 10 years before we began a romantic relationship in January, 2012.
Aside from my school work, ministry has been a major focus of my life. After high school I chose to forgo college and attended a leadership training program called Fellow Laborers with God. There I learned how to minister the word of God to people, lead bible studies, run and plan events, and the joy of service. After completing this one year training I spent time in Florida, Illinois, and California doing the work of the ministry.
In the summer of 2011 I was collecting bills in Bloomington, Illinois for an attorney. One day the attorney and I had a long conversation, and his conclusion at the end of our talk was to encourage me to go to law school. I had never thought much about school, because I was doing the work of the lord. Unfortunate circumstances with the law firm led to my layoff in August, 2011, which was the best thing to ever happen to me(however, at that time I would not have classified this layoff as a "good thing"). My termination made me really think about my future. Volunteer ministry work did not pay the bills, or pave the way for future financial stability. That layoff led me to January, 2013, I walked through the doors of Sinclair Community College, and when they asked how they could help, I replied:
"I want to enroll in college".

I have attached some writing samples from my English Composition 1201 class this semester. I have hand picked my favorite pieces. Enjoy!
